UA Technique trustees approve final stages for new UAB football facility
The UA System Board of Trustees' physical properties committee approved on Thursday a revised Stage II price range along with Stage III and Stage IV in the building for UAB's football operations building.
Full board approval is set for Friday's Board of Trustees meeting.
Head football coach Bill Clark has shown recruits some renderings for a facility. Now, they are about to come to be a reality. Building, pending the complete board approval, should really begin in mid-to-late August right after construction bids are awarded.
"This may be the game changer for us," Clark stated. "When you get started talking about, are you currently committed? Committed, the proof's within the pudding. A recruit can speak it, but does he do what he say and is he where he's supposed to be?
"This says our university is committed. Using the Birmingham neighborhood, they say it and they stepped up with finances. That's proof within the pudding.
Stages I and II were approved during the February board meeting.
