Inaugural FIFA Diversity Award to be presented at Soccerex
FIFA can these days announce that its first-ever FIFA Diversity Award are going to be presented at the Soccerex Worldwide Convention on 26 September 2016 in Manchester.
The FIFA Diversity Award highlights the significance in the fight against exclusion and discrimination, and can recognise an outstanding organisation, group initiative or football personality that may be standing up for diversity and anti-discrimination in football. By means of this symbolic recognition and honour, FIFA hopes to inspire other folks about the world to take up the trigger.
The award are going to be presented by FIFA Secretary Basic Fatma Samoura and also the ceremony will probably be followed by a panel discussion on diversity in sport.
The winner are going to be selected by an 11-strong jury, the "11 for Diversity", comprising prominent figures from international football and international professionals in diversity and anti-discrimination in sport. This jury consist of former Dutch international Clarence Seedorf; FIFA Women's World Cup? winner Abby Wambach; former captain on the German national group Thomas Hitzlsperger; FIFA Council members Moya Dodd and Continual Omari; anti-apartheid activist and founder of Worldwide Watch Tokyo Sexwale; Managing Director on the Centre for Access to Football in Europe (CAFE) Joyce Cook; Executive Director of Fare (Football Against Racism in Europe) Piara Powar; one of many Fa'afafine or "third gender" individuals precise to Samoan culture, Jaiyah Saelua; the initial African-born black player to represent Germany, Gerald Asamoah; and President of the Mexican National Council for the Prevention of Discrimination (CONAPRED) Alexandra Haas Paciuc.
The Diversity Award is a part of the set of suggestions created by the FIFA Process Force Against Racism and Discrimination, which are now in their implementation phase, and which involve other projects such as the assistance supplied to FIFA's 211 member associations in their fight against discrimination.
